ANKARA (AA) - A YPG/PKK terrorist surrendered to security forces in Turkey’s southeast Mardin province, the country’s Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the terrorist -- identified as Mahmut Ozdemir, codenamed Akif Brusk -- surrendered at the Habur Border Gate Branch Directorate.
It is stated that Ozdemir had joined the terrorist organization in 2014.
The terrorist surrendered as a result of ongoing efforts to convince YPG/PKK terrorists to lay down arms.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
