10 Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli army

HEBRON, Palestine (AA) - At least 10 Palestinians were injured and others suffered temporay asphyxia during clashes Tuesday with Israeli forces in Israel-occupied West Bank.

An Israeli force staged an incursion into al-Fawar refugee camp near Hebron city, searching several houses and detained one Palestinian according to eyewitnesses.

The witnesses said the raid has triggered clashes with stone-throwing Palestinians during which Israeli forces used rubber-coated bullets, teargas and live ammunition.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, ten Palestinians were injured by live ammunition during the violence.

Scores of Palestinians were treated on the spot from gas inhalation, the society said in a statement.

There was no comment from Israel on the clashes.

Israeli forces often stage incursions into Palestinian areas in the West Bank on claims of arresting “wanted” Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Israeli bulldozers have demolished eight Palestinian tinplate houses in the Seir town, north of Hebron, claiming they were built in area "C" without a license, according to local residents.

They added that more than 55 local residents were displaced, including 27 children.

Anadolu Agency could not get an immediate comment from the Israeli side on the report.

According to Oslo II agreement signed between the Palestinian Authority and Israel in 1995, the West Bank was divided into three zones, "A" "B" and "C".

The areas "A", contains 18% of the area of the West Bank, and controlled by the Palestinian Authority in both security and administration, while the areas "B" represents 21% of the West Bank’s territories , and are held by a Palestinian civilian administration, and Israeli security.

The "C" area contains around 61% of the territories of the West Bank and is held by Israeli security and Israeli administration, what requires according to the agreement Israeli consent to any projects or the Palestinian actions within it.
