ANKARA (AA) - Police in the Turkish capital Ankara arrested 11 people allegedly linked to the Daesh/ISIS terror group, a security source said on Thursday.

An operation was conducted to capture 15 foreign nationals over their alleged ties to the terrorist group in the conflict zones abroad, said the source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Eleven of the 15 suspects were arrested in operation.

After health controls, the terror suspects were sent to the anti-terror branch directorate of the police.

The hunt continues to nab the remaining four suspects.

In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terror group.

The country has since been attacked by the outfit multiple times, with 315 people killed and hundreds more injured in at least ten suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed assaults.

In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
