2 Nigerian security personnel appear executed in video

Individuals identified as soldier, police officer appear being shot dead by Boko Haram's ex-members: Local media report

ANKARA (AA) - An armed group split up from the terror group Boko Haram, dubbed ISWAP, has released a video showing a claimed execution of two Nigerian security personnel, local media reported Friday.

In a 49-second video, the two security personnel -- a soldier and a police officer -- reportedly abducted last week during their travel between Nigeria’s Maiduguri and Monguno -- introduce themselves before they were shot dead, according to the Premium Times local website.

“My name is Yohanah Kilus, I am policeman, my rank is Inspector, I was abducted between Maiduguri and Monguno; I am presently in the custody of Tilafa soldiers,” one of the slain security personnel was quoted as saying in the video, according to the report.

“I am 13NA/70/8374, Lance Corporal Emmanuel Oscar, I was captured by Tilafa’s along Maiduguri to Monguno," the second slain security personnel was quoted as saying in the same video before two armed men holding AK47 rifles shoot at the two personnel “kneeling with their faces blindfolded", leaving them dead, the report added.

The date during which the video was shot has not been clarified so far.

Anadolu Agency could not independently verify the video reported by the Premium Times.

Boko Haram launched a bloody insurgency in 2009 in northeastern Nigeria but later spread its atrocities to neighboring Niger, Chad and Cameroon, prompting a military response.

More than 30,000 people have been killed and nearly 3 million displaced in a decade of Boko Haram's terrorist activities in Nigeria, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Violence committed by Boko Haram has affected some 26 million people in the Lake Chad region and displaced 2.6 million others, according to the UN Refugee Agency.
