2 people still lost after boat capsized in Med. Sea

84 people rescued from boat mishap, says chief public prosecutor, while 2 remain lost

ANTALYA, Turkey (AA) – The state prosecutor in the Mediterranean province of Antalya said Sunday that four people were detained after a tour boat with dozens of people on board capsized Saturday.

"Eighty-four people were rescued and two people, whose identities are known to us, remain lost," Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor Ramazan Solmaz added in written statement.

He said the boat had 86 people on board, including three crew members, and the boat left a yacht port in Kaleici, in the resort town of Antalya, southern Turkey, before capsizing off the coast of Konyaalti, some 2 kilometers (1.2 miles away).

"The boat sank at a depth of 45 meters. The search is ongoing for two people still missing. The boat’s captain, A.T., crew members S.K. and A.K., and the boat’s owner H.K. were detained at the instructions of the chief public prosecutor's office," he added, using customary initials for the detainees.

After the boat capsized in a heavy rainstorm, Turkish Coast Guard and marine police teams were deployed to the scene for search and rescue operations.
