KILIS, Turkey (AA) - Two rockets fired from Daesh-controlled territory in Syria hit Turkey’s southeastern border province of Kilis Saturday.

According to security sources who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media, one of the rockets hit a hilly area close to the border while the second one fell into an empty field in the neighborhood of Ekrem Cetin, in the province center.

No casualties were reported. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Meanwhile, Turkish Armed Forces responded to the attack immediately by shelling Daesh positions, according to the same military sources.

Kilis province lies six kilometers (four miles) from the Syrian border.

Daesh has targeted Turkey’s border Kilis province with rocket shell attacks since January 2016, killing 21 people and injuring more than 80 others.
