MARDIN, Turkey (AA) - Two Turkish soldiers were injured in an attack by terrorist group PKK in Turkey’s southeastern province of Mardin, security sources said on Tuesday.
The soldiers were heavily injured when PKK members opened fire during the Turkish army’s anti-terror operation in Mardin’s Dargecit district, said the sources on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
The wounded soldiers were taken to hospitals in Mardin and Diyarbakir, the source added.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
