2nd seed Kontaveit stunned by Niemeier in 2022 Wimbledon

ANKARA (AA) - Second seed in women's tennis Anett Kontaveit of Estonia was eliminated from the 2022 Wimbledon on Wednesday after losing to Germany's Jule Niemeier in the second round.

Niemeier, who is ranked 97th in women's singles, beat Kontaveit, 26, with the sets of 6-4, 6-0 in the match held at No.1 Court in London that lasted nearly an hour.

The 22-year-old German athlete will either face Ukraine's Anhelina Kalinina or Lesia Tsurenko in the third round.

The tournament will go through July 10.
