ANKARA (AA) - Turkish fighter jets killed three PKK terrorists in the southeastern Hakkari province on Saturday, the military said in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, Turkish warplanes carried out airstrikes in Hakkari's Semdinli district between 9.02 and 9.31 p.m. (1802-1831GMT), and destroyed an anti-aircraft weapon.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 7,700 PKK terrorists neutralized in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
Meanwhile, at least five Daesh targets were destroyed in northern Syria Saturday during a military operation carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces and the U.S.-led coalition, a Turkish security source told Anadolu Agency on Sunday.
Daesh was reportedly preparing to attack Turkey from northern Syria, the source, who was not named due to restriction on speaking to the media, added.
Since mid-January, Daesh rockets have been targeting towns and cities in southern Turkey, close to the Syrian border. A total of 21 people, including Syrians who had taken shelter in Turkey, were killed and more than 70 others wounded in such attacks.
