Mevlut Cavusoglu says Turkey is against every act of terrorism

ANKARA (AA) - Three Turks are among the dead in Friday's shooting spree at a shopping mall in the southern German city of Munich, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Saturday.

In remarks made during a program aired on the private Turkish channel NTV, Cavusoglu said: "Unfortunately, our three citizens lost their lives. Citizens of the Republic of Turkey, our three brothers lost their lives."

He identified the victims as Sevda Dag, born in 1971, Can Leyla (2001) and Selcuk Kilic (2001). "We are in contact with families of those who lost their lives," he added.

The minister said Turkey was against every act of terrorism and remained in solidarity with everyone who faced terror.

About the motive behind the attack, Cavusoglu said: "Different things are being said, there is not a clear explanation. He is said to have gone insane. It will be useful to wait for a statement from German authorities."

Friday's attack killed at least 10 people, including the possible gunman, and injured more than a dozen others.

Police Chief Hubertus Andrae told reporters the suspected gunman, 18-year-old German national of Iranian descent, was found dead in an area close to the Olympia shopping center.
