3 years later, Spain sends new ambassador to Libya
Libya's unity government welcomes new ambassador of Spain, after last envoy left in 2014 amid outbreak of conflict

TRIPOLI (AA) - Three years after the closure of Spain's Embassy in the conflict-torn country, the head of the Presidential Council of Libya’s UN-backed unity government on Monday approved a new Spanish ambassador to Libya.
According to a statement by his office, Fayez al-Sarraj received the diplomatic credentials of Francisco de Miguel, Spain's new ambassador, in a ceremony attended by the unity government's foreign minister, Mohamed Siala.
Years after the closure and departure of the embassy staff, Spain plans to reopen its embassy in the capital Tripoli soon.
In 2014, along with all foreign missions operating there, Spain withdrew its Libyan diplomatic mission immediately after the outbreak of armed battles between different factions.
