NINEVEH, Iraq (AA) – Four people were shot dead for selling alcohol in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul on Wednesday, according to a local police officer.
Gunmen attacked two alcohol shops in al-Taamim district in southeastern Mosul and killed their owners, Police Capt. Yasser al-Hamadani told Anadolu Agency.
He said another two owners were gunned down by unidentified gunmen in al-Jazaer and al-Hashimiya districts in southeastern Mosul late Tuesday.
No one claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Al-Hamadani said the attacks seemed to be coordinated.
He, however, ruled out Daesh involvement in the attacks, hinting that attackers might be linked to pro-government groups.
Iraqi forces recaptured Mosul from Daesh terrorist group in June after a months-long military campaign.
