3 passengers critically injured as minibus skids off road before falling into rivulet, officials say

SRINAGAR, Jammu and Kashmir (AA) – Six people, including three women, were killed in a road accident in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir region after a minibus skidded off the road before falling into a rivulet, officials said on Monday.

The accident took place on the Thathri-Gandoh road in Doda district of the Jammu province when the driver lost control while negotiating a blind curve.

“Before falling into a Kalnai river bed, the vehicle broke into two parts,” officials said.

“Three critically injured passengers were airlifted to Government Medical Hospital, Jammu region, for treatment,” District Commissioner Doda Vikas Sharma said.

Indian Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh tweeted: “We are in regular touch with the district administration and my office is monitoring the rescue operation.”

Meanwhile, the officials identified the deceased as Yasir Hussain, 26, Shukar Din, 60, Kali Begum, 50, Anju Devi, 28, and Sudesha Devi, 40, while the identity of the sixth killed person was yet to be ascertained.
