SANLIURFA, Turkey (AA) – Six people with suspected links to the YPG/PKK terror group were arrested in southeastern Turkey, security sources said on Friday.

The suspects were nabbed in simultaneous operations in Sanliurfa as part of a probe by the provincial chief public prosecutor’s office, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

They are accused of being involved in activities for the terror group, including propaganda on social media platforms, according to the sources.

A large number of digital materials and a blank handgun were seized in the raids, the sources added.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.

The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.
