7 dead, 21 missing after tourist boat sinks in Budapest

BUDAPEST (AA) - At least seven people are dead and 21 others are missing after a sightseeing boat carrying South Korean tourists sank in Danube River in Budapest on Wednesday night.

The boat carrying at least 33 South Korean passengers along with two Hungarian crew members collided with another vessel near the Hungarian parliament building in downtown city. It capsized in the river which was flooding with strong currents.

Pal Gyorfi, a spokesman for Hungarian National Ambulance Service, confirmed the death toll adding that 21 passengers are still missing.

Search and rescue efforts are underway in the river.
