7 Muslims are running for municipal election in Massachusetts

Record number of Muslims are running for local Massachusetts municipal elections.

Afroz Khan is running for a seat on the Newburyport City Council, Sumbul Siddiqi for the Cambridge City Council, and Deeqo Jibril, Charles C. Muhammad, and Hassan Williams are all running for the Boston City Council.

Kemal Bozkurt (www.kemalbozkurt.com) is running for a seat on the Lawrence School Committee, and Nichole Mossalam for a seat on the Malden School Committee

Three elected Muslims are already serving in Massachusetts; Nadeem Mazen as a Cambridge City Councilor, Murat Bicer is serving on the Belmont School Committee, and Mehreen Butt as a Wakefield Selectmen.

Primary Election is going to be at the end of September and Final election will be on November 6, 2017
