BAGHDAD (AA) - At least seven government forces and allied Shia militiamen were killed in a bomb explosion on Tuesday in western Iraq, according to a local police officer.

A device planted by Daesh militants exploded at a convoy of government forces and members of the Hashd al-Shaabi militia in Albu Shihab, east of Ramadi, the officer told Anadolu Agency.

“Seven troops and militiamen were killed and 13 others injured in the blast,” he added anonymously due to restrictions to speaking to media.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Iraqi forces have recently recaptured Albu Shihab district from Daesh, which overran vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq in 2014.

Elsewhere, three people were killed and 14 others injured in two separat attacks in the capital Baghdad.

According to UN estimates, at least 2,119 people were killed in violence across Iraq in June.
