7 Turkish soldiers injured in PKK attack in SE Turkey

SIIRT, Turkey (AA) - Seven Turkish soldiers, two seriously, were injured on Saturday in an attack by PKK terrorists in the southeastern province of Siirt, the local governor’s office said.

PKK terrorists detonated a roadside bomb as a military vehicle was passing by in the Sirvan district’s Ucyol region, said a statement from the governor's office.

The injured soldiers were rushed to Siirt State Hospital.

Anti-terror operations are ongoing in the region.

More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
