7 US and British airstrikes target coastal Yemen

Airstrikes target Al-Hudaydah International Airport, Al-Jabana area

By Aziz Ahmadi

SANAA, Yemen (AA) – Yemen’s Houthi group said late Wednesday that the coastal province of Al-Hudaydah faced seven airstrikes from the US and Britain within the space of several hours.

The statement came after the US and Britain carried out four airstrikes on the Al-Jabana area in the province, following three airstrikes on Al-Hudaydah International Airport earlier in the day, as reported by the Al-Masirah TV, which is affiliated with the Yemeni group.

The channel reported that US and UK aircraft targeted the Al-Jabana area in the province of Al-Hudaydah with four airstrikes.

The Houthi-affiliated channel did not specify what damage the airstrikes did, if any, and there was no immediate response from the US or Britain to the reports.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Yemeni group said that the US and Britain carried out an attack with three airstrikes on Al-Hudaydah International Airport.

Al-Hudaydah is one of the most important Yemeni provinces, as it has an international airport and three vital ports, in addition to a long coastal strip.

The Houthis have been targeting ships that are Israeli-owned, flagged, operated, or heading to Israeli ports in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden with missiles and drones in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been under a devastating Israeli offensive since last October.

With the US and UK launching retaliatory airstrikes against Houthi sites inside Yemen, the Houthis declared that they consider all American and British ships military targets.

The attacks have raised fears of significant disruptions to maritime traffic on one of the busiest global routes for oil and fuel transport.
