ANKARA (AA) – The 24th Training Program for International Junior Diplomats will be held in Ankara between April 9-29, 2018 with the attendance of 70 junior diplomats.

The junior diplomats will be attending from the Balkans, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America as well as Africa.

The training program is organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be carried out concurrently in Ankara, Istanbul, Konya, Cappadocia, and the Hattusa archeological site in the central Black Sea province of Corum, said the Foreign Ministry in a written statement on Wednesday.

The program was initially developed in 1992 by the academy and contributes to the skills and talents required for the diplomatic profession.

In 2017, 397 foreign diplomats received the training, with a total of 1,123 junior diplomats from five continents and 131 countries trained since the program’s establishment.

“The program covers the disciplines of foreign policy, diplomacy, politics, society, economics, history, art, and literature. With a specific focus on Turkey in these fields of study, the participants also have the opportunity to attend lectures on the current trends of world politics, society and economics as well as the global issues within the context of conflict resolution and mediation, and environmental diplomacy,” the statement said.

The lectures are to be given by academics, experts from think-tanks and NGOs, and high-level bureaucrats. Additionally, briefings will be given by Turkish diplomats on Turkey’s foreign policy in practical terms, added the statement.
