9 killed in Iraqi capital Sunday

BAGHDAD (AA) – Nine people were killed and 14 others injured in a spate of attacks across the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Sunday.

A device exploded at a police patrol in al-Radwaniya, south-west Baghdad, killing a policeman, police officer Hassan al-Noufal told Anadolu Agency.

Two Shia militiamen were killed and four others injured in a bomb blast in al-Dora in southern Baghdad, he said.

Three civilians were also killed and ten others injured in two separate attacks in western and eastern Baghdad, al-Noufal said.

Meanwhile, three civilians were found dead in Baghdad’s al-Sadr city with gunshot wounds on their bodies, he added.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, though Iraqi authorities often point the finger at the Daesh terrorist group, which overran vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq in 2014.
