AFP journalist killed in eastern Ukraine

ISTANBUL (AA) - A video journalist from the French news agency, AFP, was killed in eastern Ukraine, according to the Paris-based agency, citing colleagues who witnessed the death Tuesday.

“We are devastated to learn of the death of AFP video journalist Arman Soldin in eastern Ukraine today. All of our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones,” it wrote on Twitter.

Soldin, 32, was AFP’s Ukraine video coordinator, according to the agency, that said Soldin "was killed by rocket fire near Chasiv Yar."

"The attack happened in the town's outskirts close to Bakhmut -- the epicenter of the fighting in eastern Ukraine for several months," it added.

The Russia-Ukraine war, now in its 14th month, has so far killed 8,709 civilians and wounded 14,666, according to the UN.
