Ailing Algerian leader moved to Germany for treatment

ANKARA (AA) – Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has been taken to Germany for medical treatment, state media reported on Wednesday.

Tebboune, 75, was in quarantine at home since Oct. 24 after senior government officials tested positive for COVID-19.

On the recommendation of his doctors, he was admitted to a military hospital in the capital Algiers on Tuesday.

A statement by his office did not disclose any details about the nature of his illness and there is still no word on whether he has contracted the virus.
