BRUSSELS (AA) - Hosted by Turkiye's Permanent Representative to NATO as part of Turkish Cuisine Week, NATO ambassadors of some countries enjoyed Turkish delicacies Tuesday.

The Turkish delicacies using centuries-old recipes were served to the ambassadors.

The ambassadors sampled unique dishes such as stuffed grape leaves with cherry and the Sultan’s Delight and drank rose sherbet.

The guests, hosted by Basat Ozturk and his wife Sule Ozturk, also showed great interest in a book prepared by the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry titled “Turkish Cuisine With Timeless Recipes.”

In his speech ahead of the dining, Ambassador Ozturk briefed his guests about Turkish cuisine and explained that it was developed in interaction with many cultures.

He said Turkish cuisine is nourished from a wide spectrum and was formed in a wide geography from Central Asia to Anatolia, from the Balkans to the Middle East.

Turkish Cuisine Week is organized under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency and with the support of the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Held for the first time this year from May 21-27, it aims to showcase Turkish dishes "with all their original qualities as the crown of our tables," according to the presidency.
