ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency began its fifth edition of in-service journalism training program in capital Ankara.

The five-month program was launched for staff on Monday at the agency headquarters by Anadolu Agency News Academy, which was established under the framework of its 100th-year vision.

The 308-hour program -- which will run between June 10 and Nov. 15 -- was organized for journalists who have completed the Young Talent Development Program (GYGP).

Speaking to trainees about the institution, Alptekin Cihangir Isbilir, director of the News Academy, said the agency with its centennial experience plays a strategic role in the country.

It also reaches millions of people with its news, photos and images, Isbilir said.

Following one week of orientation, the participants will receive a two-month theoretical training. Later, the trainees will practice their newly acquired skills at the regional directorates for three months.

After being honored with graduation certificates, the trainees will be assigned at various departments at the agency.

For its employees, the agency has launched four corporate journalism training programs arranged by Anadolu Agency's News Academy so far.
