ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency, Turkey's leading news agency, has launched on Monday its sixth in-service journalism training program in the capital Ankara.

The three-month program organized by the News Academy of Anadolu Agency at the agency's headquarters was launched for journalists who completed the Young Talent Development Program (GYGP).

Speaking to trainees, Umit Sonmez, head of the News Academy, said participants in the program had expertise in different fields, adding that he believed the trainees would demonstrate their expertise in the best way within the agency.

Sonmez said the new participants would enter the agency through this framework, in which journalists pursued stories all around the world, producing hundreds of news, images and footage every day.

News Academy Education Manager Alptekin Cihangir Isbilir said Anadolu Agency was one of the most strategic institutions of the country with nearly a century of experience.

Saying that the agency's managers and editors would inform participants on their departments, Isbilir urged trainees to learn all they could from master journalists, in the training.

"This country and Anadolu Agency have high expectations from trained qualified people like you," he added.

Hayri Cetinkus, News Academy Publications Manager, recalled that the News Academy was established in 2011 to provide training and develop the skills of its personnel, adding that today, the institution also provided training for journalists from abroad.

"Expert journalism has become very important today," Cetinkus said.

After receiving their graduation certificates, trainees will be assigned to various departments at the agency.
