Anadolu Agency photojournalist wins distinction in int’l underwater photography contest

ISTANBUL (AA) - An Anadolu Agency photojournalist's work was "highly commended" on Friday in an annual underwater photography competition.

Showing the tiny plastic bits taken from the gut of a small fish, Sebnem Coskun's submission, titled "Microplastic Sent to the Stomach," was given the accolade to the UK-based international Underwater Photographer of the Year competition for 2022 under the theme of Marine Conservation.

Sebnem Coskun is a photojournalist born in 1987 in Istanbul, Turkey. She started her photography career in 2008 and earned a master's degree in photography from Marmara University in Istanbul.

The Underwater Photographer of the Year contest is an international competition that officially began in 2015 in the UK.

Spanish photojournalist Rafael Fernandez Caballero won the Underwater Photographer of the Year 2022 award with his work "Dancing with the Giants of the Night."
