Anadolu Agency releases 2020 almanac in 3 languages

ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency on Tuesday released its trilingual almanac on the most significant global and domestic events of 2020.

Published separately in Turkish, English and Arabic languages, the yearbook chronologically highlights memorable events of 2020 in Turkey and worldwide, from politics and arts, to economy, sports, life, culture, science, and health with striking images captured by Anadolu Agency photojournalists.

Covering key people and events with facts, statistics and data, the 2020 almanac is now on sale in bookstores and online.

Among the national events were the reopening of Hagia Sophia for Muslim worship, Turkey's historic discovery of major natural gas reserves in Black Sea, the launch of Operation Spring Shield in Syria, Turkey's fight against the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the centennial of Turkish parliament and Anadolu Agency, the opening of the National Struggle Exhibition at the Nation's Library in the capital Ankara, and major deadly earthquakes in Elazig and Izmir.

Azerbaijan's Nagorno-Karabakh victory, US presidential elections, UK approval of Brexit draft bill, racist assaults in Germany, landmark peace deal between US-Afghan Taliban, killing of top Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani, partial opening of the Maras district in Northern Cyprus after nearly a five-decade closure are also among the events covered in the 2020 almanac.

It also included significant names from Turkey in the fields of art, politics and science who lost their lives in 2020. Politicians Mesut Yilmaz, Osman Durmus, Haydar Bas, Markar Esayan, Burhan Kuzu, and Zeki Ergezen were among those remembered in the almanac. Other well-known figures in Turkey including Ahmet Kekec, Aysegul Atik, Mehtap Anil, Haldun Boysan, Recep Aktug, and Suat Yalaz are included in the almanac.
