Anadolu Agency renews agreement with Slovakia's TASR

Cooperation deal will allow both news agencies to share each other's news stories, photos and videos with their subscribers

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AA) - Anadolu Agency has renewed its cooperation agreement with the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR).

The deal, first signed in 1999, was renewed Thursday on the sidelines of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) Conference in Bratislava, bringing together directors of major European news agencies.

Anadolu Agency Deputy Director-General Mustafa Ozkaya said the agreement was important for boosting mutual sharing of news stories, photos, and videos in the region.

Ozkaya also said that he told the conference participants about the July 15 defeated coup in Turkey, and offered unlimited sharing of related stories and photos, which he said was welcomed by the other directors.

“We took an important step with regards to communicating Turkey's agenda to this region, and preventing misinformation," he added.

Jaroslav Reznik, director-general of the Slovak agency, said he was pleased to sign a cooperation agreement with an important news agency like Anadolu Agency.

He said he hoped the deal would be “productive.”

Following the signing of the agreement, Ozkaya presented Reznik a copy of "FETO's Coup Attempt in Turkey: A Timeline," an Anadolu Agency publication, as well as the Istanbul Photo Awards 2016 book.

"FETO's Coup Attempt in Turkey: A Timeline" gives a complete account of the events of July 15-16, 2016, when the most brutal coup attempt in Turkey’s history was made by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), as witnessed by Anadolu Agency reporters and photojournalists.

Aside from a step-by-step account of events, the book includes striking pictures and Anadolu Agency infographics detailing the Turkish nation’s firm resistance against the July 15 coup attempt, a day that will henceforth be remembered in Turkey as “Democracy Day.”
