ANKARA (AA) - An online energy journalism training, jointly organized by Anadolu Agency and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) for foreign participants, started on Tuesday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, Huseyin Avni Aksoy, Turkey's ambassador to Mozambique, said that the program will increase the capacity of journalists in various fields.

He underlined that besides journalism training, Turkey also provides technical equipment support to different countries.

Also speaking at the ceremony was Ugur Tanyeli, a senior TIKA official, who emphasized Turkey’s role in sharing its knowledge and experience in the field, and said the aid group has trained more than 3,000 media personnel so far.

"We carry out our work with the understanding that a single piece of news can start a war, and a single photo can bring peace," he said, noting that the current training hosts participants from 11 countries across the globe.

Cihangir Isbilir, director of Anadolu Agency's News Academy, said his organization attaches great importance to "investing in people" and contributing to their education by sharing experience with journalists.

The training organized in English is also supported by simultaneous Arabic and Portuguese translation.

The program, attended by 80 trainees from different countries, will continue until April 15.

During the training process, the participants will be given lectures on various topics such as energy news and resources, energy diplomacy, energy policies around the world, and energy economy.
