ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s top news provider Anadolu Agency and state-run aid agency TIKA on Tuesday launched an online training on journalism in conflict zones.

The three-day workshop will gather 111 media representatives from 18 countries via video conferencing. The course is being conducted in Turkish and simultaneously translated into English and Persian.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Bora Bayraktar, director of Anadolu Agency's News Academy, talked about the difficulties while working in crisis regions.

A reporter going to a conflict zone should be aware of human psychology, survival methods, as well as the region's political situation, Bayraktar said, stressing that the training program will contribute to the participants' development in many ways.

Ugur Tanyeli, a senior TIKA official, said since 2017 they have organized media training for 858 journalists, 587 of whom joined online, in cooperation with Anadolu Agency.

Topic such as Fact-Checking, Local Resources in Crisis Regions, Crisis Management in Journalism and Journalism in Risky Regions are included in the module.
