‘We have successfully fulfilled our task of informing public,’ Anadolu Agency’s director-general says

ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency’s Director-General and Chairman of the Board Senol Kazanci said that the agency kept its promise to provide accurate and fast information to the public during Turkey’s elections on June 24.

“We have successfully fulfilled our task of informing the public. We covered the celebration of democracy with its all aspects and colors during the June 24 Turkish elections,” Kazanci said in a statement.

He stressed that the agency has also successfully prevented intended cyber-attacks on it.

“Instead of responding to criticism we said that we would focus on our work, and whatever the case, we were able to instantly send the [election results] ensuring uninterrupted, fast and accurate data flow,” he said.

Kazanci appreciated all colleagues for their efforts.

Anadolu Agency in its 98th year operates as an international news agency, publishing in 13 languages and serving over 2,000 subscribers across 50 countries.

The agency maintains offices in 100 countries.

On Sunday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won an absolute majority in the presidential poll with 52.5 percent of the vote while his closest rival Muharrem Ince received 30.6 percent, according to unofficial results.

In the parliamentary polls, along with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), the Justice and Development (AK) Party's election ally, the People's Alliance won 53.6 percent of the votes, winning the Nation Alliance which has got 33.9 with 100 percent of ballot boxes opened.
