ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments on the coronavirus pandemic and other news in Turkey and around the world.

- Coronavirus and other developments in Turkey

Turkey has administered more than 101.45 million coronavirus vaccine shots since it launched an immunization campaign in January, according to official figures.

Over 51.41 million people have received their first doses, while more than 40.15 million are fully vaccinated, the Health Ministry said.

Data showed that 82.83% of the country's adult population has received at least one dose of a two-shot vaccine.

Turkey has also given third booster shots to over 9.39 million people. The ministry also reported 22,923 new infections, with 259 additional deaths from the disease in the past 24 hours.

Despite sabotage attempts, Turkey is gradually getting closer to its 2023 goals, according to the country's president.

Turkish security forces neutralized 1,926 terrorists in domestic and cross-border operations in northern Iraq and Syria since the beginning of 2021, said the Turkish national defense minister.


- COVID-19 updates worldwide

The number of infections in Africa has surpassed 8 million as the continent’s vaccination coverage remains abysmally low, according to the latest figures from Africa CDC.


- Other global developments

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei lauded the "momentous naval mission" that took two Iranian warships to the Atlantic Ocean for the first time amid heightened tensions with the West.

The Palestinian jailbreak from a high-security Israeli prison has shattered Israel’s prestige, according to resistance group Hamas.

Three Iraqis were injured, including two policemen, in three bomb explosions in southern Karbala province, according to a police officer.

Emma Raducanu, the hope of British tennis, won the 2021 US Open women's singles title, her first Grand Slam championship.

A drone attack was carried out against the International Erbil Airport in Iraq where US troops are stationed, according to local sources.
