Anadolu Agency’s reporting ‘professional, objective’

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) - Politicians from Pakistan and Azad Kashmir congratulated Anadolu Agency on its centenary to be marked on April 6.

In his message, Pakistani-administered Kashmir’s President Masood Khan said over the decades, Anadolu Agency has established itself as a “professional clearinghouse for news from across the world”.

"I congratulate Anadolu Agency on its 100th anniversary. It's a precious moment for the people of Turkey, and for people all around the world," Khan said.

"Your reporting is objective. You have become the face of Turkish people and also for those who struggle for freedom all around the world, democracy and the rule of law and justice," he added.

Shehbaz Sharif, the head of opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), termed the centenary as “a great achievement for the news agency, its employees and the people of brotherly Turkey.”

“Over the decades, Anadolu has established itself as a premier news agency, demonstrating professionalism & objectivity in reporting. It has added to the prestige and soft power of brotherly Turkey,” Sharif said in his message.

He expressed hope that Anadolu Agency will continue to work with “the same zeal and zest in the service of truth.”

Senator Sirajul Haq -- the head of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), the country’s mainstream religious party -- has also congratulated Anadolu Agency’s management and workers on this auspicious occasion.

"I congratulate Anadolu Agency’s management and its professional on this auspicious occasion when they are celebrating the completion of 100 successful years," Haq said in his message.

Anadolu Agency is not only the voice of Turkey but it’s the only international news agency that raises voice for the oppressed Muslims around the world and highlights their miseries, he added.

"Currently, when Islamophobia is growing in the West, many political leaders in western countries use Islamophobia for their political gains and spread hatred against Muslims, I appreciate the role of Anadolu Agency which is presenting the true picture of Islam and countering the baseless propaganda against the Muslim world and Islam," Haq said.

He also applauded Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for persistently raising his voice against Islamophobia and for playing an important role in presenting the true face of Islam to the world.

"As Pakistani people love Turkey and President Erdogan; his bold leadership has drawn admiration and respect from across the Muslim world," the JI chief added.

Anadolu Agency is also playing a key role in promoting brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey, he further said.

"We stood with Turkey during the 2016 failed coup attempt and we will always stand with our Turkish brothers in every difficult time," Haq concluded.

Anadolu Agency was established on April 6, 2020, during the Turkish War of Independence.

The agency currently produces news in 13 languages; Turkish, English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Kurdish in two dialects -- Kurmanji and Sorani -- Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Russian, Albanian, Persian, Macedonian and Indonesian.
