ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency's ninth intensive war journalism training program, organized by the agency's News Academy and Turkish Police Academy, continued Tuesday.

Theoretical and practical courses are being given by the police academy and the armed forces personnel at the Turkish Police Academy in Anittepe, Ankara.

The 12-day program differs from other training programs in terms of duration, theoretical and practical course hours.

As part of the program, 25 subjects -- including journalism, personal security, the laws of war, first aid, advanced driving techniques, water survival techniques, chemical and biological attacks and media management in hostile environments -- are being taught.

The participants have even experienced grenade smoke and tear gas during the training sessions.

Ali Ebubekir Tokcan, a trainee in the program, who reported to have felt awful after being exposed to tear gas, said: “As journalists, it is our duty to report in dangerous geographies and situations like these.”

He said he has learnt to survive in war-like situations.

Anadolu Agency News Academy aims to provide a world standard certification program, acting with the awareness of being a global brand, in line with local and international educational demands.

The program will continue till May 26. The successful participants will be awarded with internationally recognized certificates.
