ANKARA (AA) - Argentine football player Carlos Tevez retired from the game on late Friday.

"I have retired, it is confirmed," Tevez, 38, said in an interview with America TV.

"They offered me many things, including from the United States. But that's it, I have given everything," the former Manchester United and Manchester City forward said.

Tevez said that he stopped playing after his father's death in 2021.

"Playing last year was very difficult but I was able to see my old man. I stopped playing because I lost my number one fan," he said.

In addition to the Manchester archrivals, Tevez played for Argentina's Boca Juniors, Brazil's Corinthians, England's West Ham United, Italy's Juventus, and Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

In 2018, he returned to Boca Juniors and played at his boyhood club until 2021 summer.

Tevez scored 237 goals and made 108 assists in 607 club appearances.

He had 76 caps to score 13 goals for Argentina and played for his nation in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Tevez won the 2008 UEFA Champions League title with Manchester United and was the English Premier League champion with this club in 2008 and 2009.

He also won the English Premier League with Manchester City in 2012.

Tevez claimed domestic titles with Boca Juniors and Juventus as well.

On Saturday, his former clubs West Ham United, Manchester City, and Juventus thanked Tevez for his efforts and services and wished him the best in his retirement.
