ANKARA (AA) - Association of State Workers (ATE) of Argentina announced a nationwide strike on Sept. 10 due to impact of the devaluation on worker's wages.
The association said Monday that the decision came by its National Directing Council after assessment of the current economic situation.
State workers demand the reinstatement of all laid-off workers, the reopening of wage negotiations, the re-establishment of all programs that were suspended and the rejection of the minimal increase agreed by the government last Friday.
Argentina is suffering high inflation after a sharp devaluation of its peso currency in 2018.
Three and a half years after the arrival in power of President Mauricio Macri, the economic turmoil of the country has not improved and the state sector has been one of the most impacted.
On July, International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced disburse of $5.4 billion to the Argentine government, saying Argentine authorities completed all their fiscal, monetary and the social expenditure targets under the IMF-backed program.
