Asian markets close day with mixed figures

ANKARA (AA) – Asian stock markets closed Wednesday with mixed figures ahead of US Federal Reserve's last meeting of this year.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, earned 11.77 points, or 0.31%, to close at 3,754 points.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange was also up 27.1 points, or 0.10%, to 28,460.

The Japanese government overstated monthly data on construction orders for about eight years, officials said.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism had double counted some of the data it received from the same businesses when compiling its monthly construction orders data since fiscal 2013, according to the officials.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, saw a decrease of 215.2 points, or 0.91%, to 23,420.

China's Shanghai stock exchange was down by 13.90 points, or 0.38%, to reach 3,647 points following disappointing retail sales and firmer-than-expected industrial production data.

China's retail sales rose 3.9% year-on-year and industrial production grew 3.8% on annual basis in November.

The Indian Sensex benchmark slipped 286.5 points, or 0.49%, to reach 57,830 points and the Singapore index fell by 6.21 points, or 0.20%, to reach 3,114.
