Asian markets post mixed figures at weekly close

Except for Asia Down, Nikkei 225, major Asian markets close Friday with losses

ISTANBUL (AA) – Four of six major Asian stock exchange markets closed the week with losses, except for Asia Dow and Tokyo's Nikkei 225.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, earned 47.25 points, or 1.32%, to close at 3,632.61 points on Friday.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange was up 547.04 points, or 2.09%, to reach 26,717 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, lost 256.92 points, or 1.08%, to reach 23,550.08, and China's Shanghai stock exchange dropped 32.81 points, or 0.97%, to 3,361.44 points.

The Indian Sensex benchmark posted a decrease of 76.71 points, or 0.13%, to close at 57,200.23 points, and the Singapore index lost 13.7 points, or 0.42%, to reach 3,246.33.
