Asian stock markets close midweek with losses

ISTANBUL (AA) - Most major Asian stock markets were down at Wednesday's close.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, dropped 0.35% to 2,977.78 points, while Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 lost 0.56% to 27,716.43.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, was down 1.2% to 16,358.52 points.

China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange fell 0.53% to close at 3,048.17, and the Indian Sensex benchmark decreased 0.25% to 61,033.55 points.

The Singapore index gained 0.63% to 3,165.50.
