Asian stock markets close mixed

ANKARA (AA) – Major Asian stock markets closed Wednesday mixed amid worries about a global economic slowdown.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, rose 10.6 points, or 0.34%, to 3,158.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange increased 142.1 points, or 0.54%, to 26,479 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, fell 46.8 points, or 0.22%, to 20,797.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange gained 2.8 points, or 0.09%, to close at 3,284 points.

The Indian Sensex benchmark decreased 372.5 points, or 0.69%, to end the day at 53,514 points, while the Singapore index was down 17 points, or 0.54%, to close at 3,128.7.
