Asian stock markets close Monday mixed

Hang Seng, Singapore indices post increases at close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Most major Asian stock markets were down at Monday's close, while Hang Seng and Singapore indices were in the positive side.

On Monday, Haruhiko Kuroda, the governor of the Bank of Japan, said the bank will maintain its ultralow rate policy.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, dropped 1.23% to 3,128.76 points as of 1033GMT, while Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 lost 1.06% to close at 27,963.47 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, was up 1.7% to 17,619.71 points.

China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange fell 0.13% to close at 3,083.40, and the Indian Sensex benchmark decreased 0.28% to 61,624.15 points.

The Singapore index also gained 1.01% to end the day at 3,260.80 points.
