Asian stock markets close Monday with losses

ISTANBUL (AA) - All major Asian stock markets fell on the first transaction day of the week.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, was down 1.32%, or 38.34 points, to 2,873.46.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, lost 2.95% or 523.39 points to 17,216.66.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange fell 1.66%, or 50.25 points, to close at 2,974.15.

The Indian Sensex benchmark dropped 0.34%, or 200.18 points, to end the day at 57,991.11 points, while the Singapore index went down 1.22%, or 38.34 points, to close at 3,107.47.

Japanese markets were closed due to a bank holiday.
