Asian stock markets close mostly in red

4 of 6 indices post decreases, while Nikkei and Sensex indices increase

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major Asian stock markets closed Thursday with mixed figures, mostly in the negative territory.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, lost 2.09 points, or 0.06%, to reach 3,443.44 at 1013GMT.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange increased 12.24 points, or 0.04%, to 28,246.53 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, decreased 145.54 points, or 0.66%, to 21,869.05.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange dropped 24.84 points, or 0.76%, to close at 3,238.95 points.

The Indian Sensex benchmark earned 427.79 points, or 0.78%, to end the day at 55,320.28.

The Singapore index lost 16.18 points, or 0.50%, to finish at 3,209.62 points.
