Asian stock markets close mostly in red

4 of 6 indices post declines as Hang Seng, Singapore end day up

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major Asian stock markets closed the first transaction day of the week with mixed figures, mostly in the negative territory.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, lost 4.82 points, or 0.15%, to reach 3,163.15 at 0922GMT.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange dropped 191.78 points, or 0.74%, to 25,771.22 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, was up 88.91 points, or 0.42%, to 21,163.91.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange dropped 1.36 points, or 0.04%, to close at 3,315.43 points.

The Indian Sensex benchmark fell 30.26 points, or 0.06%, to end the day at 51,330.16.

The Singapore index gained 1.11 points, or 0.04%, to finish at 3,099.20 points.
