Asian stocks mixed at Tuesday’s close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Asian major stock markets closed Tuesday with mixed figures.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, rose 0.24% to 3,433.92 points as of 1135GMT.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 climbed 0.51% to close at 28,658.83 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong exchange, lost 0.63% to reach 20,650.51 points.

In China, the gross domestic product exceeded expectations by rising 4.5% in the first quarter on a yearly basis after strict COVID-19 restrictions ended.

Industrial production was up 3% and retail sales 10.6%, according to official figures on Tuesday.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange was up by 0.23% to 3,393.33 and India's Sensex index dropped 0.31% to close at 59,727.01.

The Singapore index lost 0.29% to end the day at 3,309.56 points.
