ANKARA (AA) - Young would-be ambassadors from around the world learning about diplomacy in Turkey's capital Ankara also got a chance to sample ebru, the unique art of Turkish paper marbling.

Ankara is hosting a training program for international junior diplomats through April 29 with the attendance of 68 young envoys from the Balkans, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, and Africa.

As part of the training program organized by the Foreign Ministry, junior diplomats also learned the art of paper marbling.

“We want young diplomats to be equipped with not only information on Turkish foreign policy but also on Turkey, the Turkish people, and Turkish history and culture,” said Burcu Cevik, deputy head of the Diplomacy Academy.

“I’m in Turkey for the first time and having a wonderful time. The activities we did here today are part of the cultural diplomacy and I enjoyed it very much,” said Casandra Amstelveen from the South American country of Suriname.

In 1992, the program for international junior diplomats was developed by the Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy to contribute to the skills and talents required for the diplomatic corps.
