At least 10 dead, 9 missing after boat sinks in Vietnam

ISTANBUL (AA) - At least 10 people drowned and nine more are missing after a boat capsized in Vietnam on Saturday.

A boat carrying 36 tourists and three crew members sank near the ancient town of Hoi An in the central Quang Nam province, daily Vietnam News reported.

Emergency teams have pulled out 30 people so far, 10 of whom were declared dead, the report said.

Efforts are on to locate the nine missing passengers, it added.

The boat was taking tourists from the island of Cu Lao Cham to the Cua Dai area in Hoi An.

An investigation has been started to ascertain the cause of the accident, the report said. ​​​​​​​
