At least 5 people rescued from rubble after strike on bread factory in town of Makariv, says Ukraine's emergency agency

KYIV, Ukraine (AA) - At least 13 people were killed in a Russian airstrike on a bread factory near the capital Kyiv, Ukrainian authorities said on Monday.

At least five people were rescued from the rubble after the strike in the town of Makariv, according to a statement by the State Emergency Service.

Around 30 people were on site at the time of the attack, according to preliminary reports.

Russia's war on Ukraine has been met with outrage from the international community, with the European Union, Britain, and the US, among others, imposing a range of economic sanctions on Moscow.

At least 406 civilians have been killed and 801 others injured in Ukraine since the beginning of the war, according to UN figures.

More than 1.7 million people have also fled to neighboring countries, the UNHCR said.
