Attack on Turkish flag in Macedonia condemned

SKOPJE, Macedonia (AA) - Turkey’s ambassador to Skopje and the Turkish community in Macedonia on Wednesday condemned an attack on the Turkish flag in the country’s northwestern city of Kalkandelen.

After images of yesterday’s attack were shared on Facebook, ambassador Tulin Erkal Kara condemned the incident on her social media account.

"I strongly condemn this threatening attack which is encouraged by hatred. This incident aims to harm our ties of brotherhood and friendship. I invite all our people to be foresighted in light of this provocative incident which took place in Kalkandelen,” she said.

The Macedonian Turkish Movement Party, Macedonian Turkish National Movement, Turkish Democratic Party and Macedonian Turkish Civil Society Association condemned the attack and underscored that this incident is an attack on the common culture of Macedonia.

Salih Utas, Macedonia chairman of the Union of European Turkish Democrats, also condemned the attack in a post on his social media account.

It is not known who carried out the attack.
